I think that when you come up with an idea, don't try to see where it leads you and if you benefit from it stay with it but if its harming you get rid of it and come up with a new one...
Like the example page 55 about the hammer and nail...
First of all, let me ask this question: What is a tool and what is it designed for? According to Dictionary.com, it is "an implement for performing or facilitating mechanical operations." It is also used to fix a certain defect in a machine. So idead are not used for mechanical purposes, but they are used for other purposes. If you get an idea, you ought to "perform" it (use it appropriately). But what if it does not work. Well, it's still OK. Just stop using it, but do not throw it away. You might need it sometime in the future, just as a defective tool might come in handy someday.
In my opinion,there is a common between ideas and tools.Because the tool can work, you ues it again.If it doesn't work, you will get a different one.So like ideas.The ideas are for useing ,not necessarily for believing.If idea can be used, you use it.If not, abandon it
I think the ideas and tools have some similarity in some aspects. Because both of them can be used by people. Like the ideas, they are for using, not for believing. If the idea works, people use it, if it doesn't, people don't use it. What's more, if the idea doesn't work for people, but people are satisfied with if, so people will not throw it away, because the idea maybe come to handy soon. It is just like how to ues tools. So they have similarities that ideas like tools.
I think the idea as same as the tool to help you achieve the goal.Your goal is vey difficult to come ture, it is like treasure behind the door and the door be locked. If you want to get the treasure you must find the key to open the door.So the idea is like the key(tool)to help you achieve the goal.Even though One idea could not achieve all the goal.But it does not matter and do not throw it. there still have a one idea can help you achieve the goal and maybe the other idea can help you do the other things.
"Ideas are tools" I strongly agree with that. For example, when you have an idea in your mind, it motivates you to transfer it mentally through an actions in the actual life, so these ideas like the tools that you use them either to benefit your self or the others.
In my view, i think ideas and tools are the same thing in some areas. Because, both of them can help people to complete things and they are ways to solve problems. But they are not total same. The idea comes from people's mind, it's subjective. And tools are more objective than ideas.
When you do fiex something you need tools. If we do not have tools, we could not fiex easily take a more time can fiex it. So! tools and ideas are same thing.
